South Fork Regional Fishing Report
Last updated : May 7th, 2008 By Phil Hanamaikai
Current Fishing Conditions:
Fly Angler: I am planning on coming that way this weekend...is the river blown out?
Fly Shop Guy: Dude, the river is totally pumpin, but the bows are fully reddin up an they are fully commited to the take! The Man sez that they are going to stop the carnage at 8-10 and that is totally doable.
Fly Shop Guy (Translation): The flows are on the way up. However the word is, that the powers that be are planning on stabilizing the flows at around 8000-10,000 CFS. And, as you know that is an entirely manageable flow to float or fish in. We are starting to see some activity on the redds and the Skwallas and Caddis are just around the corner.
Fellas, remember that Mother's Day is this weekend so if you want it to be a long happy summer...play those cards right!Nothing says," I love you" and "I appreciate you" like a great big Rainbow for dinner. But, that might just be me.
The Flies of the Day would be Brown and Verigated Rubber Legs, Zebra Midges, Phesant Tails and Princes as well as JJ Specials and for something a little out of the ordinary, try a pink or orange Super X.
Please call South Fork Outfitters for an up to the minute report.

Section 1: (Palisades to Conant)
Accesses are all open on the upper end.
Section 2: (Conant to Cottonwood)
Cottonwood remains closed for the big game winter range. At current flows plan on 10 to 12 hours to get to wolf. Camping is an option and would be allot of fun this time of the year
Section 3: (Cottonwood to Byington)
Wolf Boat Dock is open! Wolf to Byington is a short but worthwhile float on the right day. Nymphing will be the order of the day but be ready with Midge and Blue wing imitation if you see fish working the surface.
Section 4 (Byington to Menan)
From Byington down all accesses with the exception of twin bridges is open and fishing very well
The Main Snake.
All access on the main is open check the regs for your favorite piece of water. Look for big rainbows to start spawing!
